Movie Review: Another Round

    Being a high teacher isn't for the weak, which is why four teachers use drinking as a way to cope and handle the stress, but also to test the hypothesis of Norwegian Psychiatrist Finn Skarderud in that humans are born was 0.05% blood alcohol level to low, he claims that people are more naturally relaxed and poised at this level. 

    In the movie Another Round, directed by Thomas Vinterberg. The film shows how alcohol can truly change a person even in a short amount of time, even in a happy way at times  The film shows how drinking can also affect humans personal relationships especially with family. This movie is very relatable to the real world, and how drinking can really affect someone even if people don't see it from the outside. The four main characters are Martin, Tommy, Nikolaj, and Peter. 

    Four high school teachers that are close friends, are starting to lose their spark and want to change their lives. So of course, they turn to alcohol. But they are actually to find themselves happy again just like when they were younger. 

   Martin is personally my favorite character, as I can also relate to him. Martin is struggling to fit in with his students and is often depressed. Martin, whom is played by Mads Mikkelson showed excellent acting throughout the film. 

    The 4 men first engage at a birthday dinner over Skarderud's drinking theory. Even that first night the film clearly shows how this could just possibly change the mens life. 

    At first, the drinking seems to be helping them more than hurting them. The 4 men all hangout together more often and do things such as going to soccer games, trying to branch out and meet more people, and becoming more open to doing new things. I personally had a lot of hope for Martin my favorite character as at first he was showing improvement. 

    However, as the movie continues things begin to change drastically. While all 4 of the men are excelling socially. The drinking is now beginning to effect their relationship with their kids, and wives. The drinking eventually starts effecting them so much they decide to stop. 

    Overall, I feel that this was an outstanding film. The overall plot was very unique and relatable to the real world. As many professionals often do struggle with drinking issues. I would certainly watch this film again and recommend it to anyone who enjoys humor but also a bit of doom and gloom.
